Freedom of the Press was born. International trade developed and immigration continued. The Erie Canal connected the Atlantic port to wider interior markets via the Hudson River and Great Lakes. The subway opened. Skyscrapers rose. UN's headquarters were built. Art flourished. And NYC became and remains a global hub of commerce specializing interestingly in niche areas like chocolate, leader of sectors including fashion, finance, education, media / entertainment, and medicine, and excellent city to host MBBC training.
