About Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Training

Who is Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Training for?

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis training is for anybody interested in launching a new undertaking more successfully. New undertakings can be services, products, or processes. And more successfully means with less risk, injury to customers or employees, warranty cost, rework cost, and scrap cost. In our course, New York students learn:

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Training Course Overview:

FMEA training describes Failure Mode and Effects Analysis so New York students can lessen risk while designing any new system, product, or process. FMEA as a Design Tool. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis was born in Aerospace and evolved in Automotive; industries where we can't afford to make mistakes because they're safety-critical and measured in the cost of lives lost. What's useful for designing a zero-failure Space Shuttle is probably useful everywhere. Many industrial leaders agree so FMEA has found applications not only in product design but system design and process design as well. For example, Manufacturing Engineers in Automotive Powertrain divisions may have $50M budgets to launch new machining lines. That's a lot of money; as much as many smaller companies earn in a year. Mistakes can't be made. The expectation is that these new, super-complex lines launch flawlessly. How can that be done? FMEA.

FMEA as a Root Cause Analysis Tool. In Six Sigma's DMAIC Analyze Phase, suppose you're working on a really tough problem with a low defect rate or a one-off that was destroyed in the process of its failure. How can you find the root cause? Many folks give up at this point claiming, "we can't do anything about a one-off failure". Not true. If that were true, FAA investigators wouldn't have jobs. If actual failure modes no longer exist, we can look at potential causes. FMEA allow us to do that.

New York

Empire City - The Big Apple

Excellent choice! New York City (NYC) is known for many things such as immigration, landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Broadway theaters, and skyscrapers. NYC's early history interesting left a solid foundation for skyscrapers. Thousands of years ago, the advance and retreat of a 2,000 ft thick ice sheet left bedrock at a shallow depth. The area also possessed advantages of being a coastal site fed by a wide river full of fish. Trapping and fur trading evolved into a settlement. Additional settlers were attracted with land. Freedom of the Press was born. International trade developed and immigration continued. The Erie Canal connected the Atlantic port to wider interior markets via the Hudson River and Great Lakes. The subway opened. Skyscrapers rose. UN's headquarters were built. Art flourished. And NYC became and remains a global hub of commerce specializing interestingly in niche areas like chocolate, leader of sectors including fashion, finance, education, media / entertainment, and medicine, and excellent city to host MBBC Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Training.

Being very new to auditing, I was nervous coming into the IATF Internal Auditor class. MBBC's trainer was aware of the class's experience and adjusted the training accordingly. Things were explained in depth when needed. I would strongly recommend this class to others.

The FMEA example sessions were fun, engaging and productive. Facilitator helped break ice between team members and the video clips were great illustrators that added to the examples.
