About GD&T Training

Who is GD&T Training for?

Anybody who makes or uses engineering drawings should know GD&T. This includes, drafters, designers, engineers of all disciplines, buyers, machinists, maintenance technicians, salespeople, auditors, inspectors, and their management. In our course, Jackson students learn:

GD&T Training Course Overview:

GD&T training describes Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing letting Jackson students specify part geometries consistent with their manufacturability. Prints serve their internal customer users including Product Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production. It is important that information be communicated clearly and in a useful manner to these important stakeholders. As such, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbology is articulated in ASME Y14.5 to satisfy this need.

Our 2-day introduction to GD&T fundamentals covers the following with exercises throughout and a test for comprehension at the end. Students will learn:

Overview. Units of measure, fundamental dimensioning rules, terms, material conditions, extreme form variation, allowance, clearance, and types of fit.

Symbols. Dimensioning symbols and templates, datum features and targets, geometric characters, material conditions, and feature control.

Datums. Symbol, surface, frame, and target. Also includes partial and coplanar.

Material Conditions. Limits of size, perfect form boundary, regardless of feature size (RFS), maximum material condition (MMC), least material condition (LMC), datum feature hierarchy, and datum precedence.

Form and Profile. Straightness, flatness, circularity, cylindricity, profile, and, free state variation.

Orientation and Runout. Orientation, runout, combinations, tangent plane.

Location. Position, coaxial features, non-parallel holes, slotted holes, spheres, fasteners, projected zones, virtual conditions, concentricity, coaxiality, and symmetry.

Jackson

Chimneyville - The City with Soul

Excellent choice! Jackson was established as a trade route village on the Pearl River connect to markets in Tennessee and travel from New Orleans. It was chosen to serve as the state's capital due to being the most habitable central location, beautiful surroundings, potable and navigable water, and timber. Road and railway connections were made to adjacent cities. Saloons, casinos, and Blues music flourished. Riverboat gaming followed. Legal and medical excellence evolved notably at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Levees and a canal system were built. Now, Jackson is home to several major industries including electrical equipment, processed food, and metal products. Surrounding areas remain agriculturally-focused including livestock, soybeans, cotton, and poultry. Jackson offers many after-class entertainment options such as the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, Jackson Zoological Park, and LeFleur's Bluff State Park.

Attending my Six Sigma classes was a great learning experience. Our Master Black Belt had the credentials and the ability to make the classes exciting. Working as a production engineer in the HVAC industry I have been able to apply Six Sigma to problem solving situations saving valuable minutes on the assembly line and increase quality in the fabrication process. I believe with an excellent highly trained instructor everyone will appreciate the Six Sigma discipline.
