About Confined Space Training

Who is Confined Space Training for?

Employers are required by law to provide a safe and healthy workplace for their employees so must be aware of all confined spaces in their work environment. Before assigning employees to work in a confined space, employers must train and test them for competence / knowledge of this topic. Additional CPR and first aid certification is required for rescue team members. In our course, Milwaukee students learn:

Confined Space Training Course Overview:

Confined space training protects Milwaukee students, their peers, families, and friends from injury in small, occupiable, restricted-egress spaces. Such spaces can become dangerous traps tending to accumulate harmful gases, fumes, or other materials or hazards that may arrest and injure or kill you. OSHA uses the term "permit-required confined space" (permit space) to describe a confined space that has one or more of the following characteristics: contains or has the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere; contains material that has the potential to engulf an entrant; has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area which could trap or asphyxiate an entrant; or contains any other recognized safety or health hazard, such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, or heat stress.

Our 1-day training topics include:

Key elements of OSHA's Permit-Required Confined Spaces Regulation (29 CFR 1910.146).

Requirements for developing and maintaining a confined space entry program.

Confined spaces concepts and terminology including what determines whether a confined space requires a permit for entry.

Hazard identification.

Hazard control.

Equipment.

Roles of the entry supervisor, entrant, and attendant.

Procedures for alternate entry, reclassification, self-rescue, non-entry rescue, entry rescue by company employees, entry rescue by emergency responders.

Test for competence.

Milwaukee

Cream City

Excellent choice! Milwaukee means 'pleasant land'. It is a city perfectly situated to serve as a port at the Menomonee River's mouth into the west coast of Lake Michigan. Since early in the city's economy, wheat was shipped out by ship and train giving rise to grain elevator and brewery construction. Tanneries and a brickyard making cream-colored bricks; this Milwaukee's nickname "Cream City" had nothing to do with dairy. Sine then, the city diversified to include more manufacturing infrastructure. Several entertainment options exist for after Confined Space Training. Water sports are popular especially various forms of sailing. The Harley-Davidson and Milwaukee Art Museums are prominent attractions. Lakefront Brewery and Pabst Mansion are also highly rated.

This DFMEA class was very entertaining and informative. The instructor had a lot of knowledge mixed with a great sense of humor. Most trainings I fall asleep after long hours however, this was a different situation. I had fun and learned a large amount of content in a short amount of time. Thank you!
