About Parameter Design Training

Who is Parameter Design Training for?

Parameter Design is most often used by Product Design Engineers and their management. In our course, Evansville students learn:

Parameter Design Training Course Overview:

In an interactive and fun setting. learn how to calculate highest revenue-generating product dimensions. How many billions of dollars do you suppose have been lost due to parameters (dimensions) being set wrong or failing to communicate safety-related and function-critical feature classification to Procurement and Manufacturing teams?

The primary focus of our 1-day Introduction to Parameter Design is conveying how design products that customers want to buy. Not doing this can be catastrophic. One of the worst examples we've seen is a small company who wasted $12M designing a pressure-based UPS system for which they generated zero sales. Through presentation, examples, and hands-on exercises, students will learn through doing the following in a highly interactive and fun setting:
Running a designed experiment with low cost components and process settings.
Selecting optimum values for parameters that will reduce the variability of the response to noise.
Selecting lowest cost settings for factors that have minimal effect on response.

Prerequisites. Basic:
Knowledge of Product Design / Engineering
Math: Algebra, Summations
Excel

Details.
All students receive a binder of slide print-outs.
Students will also be asked to evaluate the class.
Comprehension will be measured with a quiz. Passing grade is 80%. Students scoring less will receive a call from their instructor to review weak points.
Once understanding is confirmed, certificate proofs will be emailed for error-checking.
Certificates will then be printed and delivered by normal mail. Certificates are individually serialized with no expiration date although annual refresher training is recommended.

Schedule. The day is usually 8am-3pm including time for breaks and followed by a quiz. Lunch is between 30-60 minutes depending on client preference.

Evansville

Crescent City

Excellent choice! Evansville Parameter Design Training occurs in an city whose nickname Crescent City comes from being positioned on an Ohio River oxbow. Furs were one of the earliest commercial items which expanded into coal mining and hardwood furniture thanks to river trade and railroads including a bridge across the Ohio River. Manufacturing expanded into the automotive and refrigeration industries. Highway 41 was built connecting Evansville to Chicago and Miami. WWII spurred ship, bullet, and P47 aircraft production laying a foundation for the city to remain strong in automotive, appliance, and steel manufacturing. Meanwhile, Evansville developed a healthy cultural side with many entertainment venues including festivals and museums to try after training. Of these, the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and USS LST Ship Memorial are most visited. Spelunking is also popular thanks to Indiana Caverns.

During my Lean Six Sigma training with our Master Black Belt I was able to gain a true understanding of the tools that are required knowledge for an effective continuous improvement program. I have used these tools first hand to implement operational savings worth hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. Additionally, earning my certification has allowed me to expand my knowledge base and to lead others on the path of waste reduction and process improvement.
