The district of Old Sacramento harkens back to the city's Gold Rush era, with wooden sidewalks and wagon rides. As a result of the Gold Rush, Sacramento became a major commercial center and distribution point for Northern California. Since then, it remains in growth mode with developing financial, educational, and medical resources.
