Minneapolis

City of Lakes - Forward

Excellent choice! Minneapolis-Saint Paul Twin Cities form a major metropolitan area with a population of 3.2M built around the Mississippi, Minnesota and St. Croix rivers. Minneapolis is somewhat younger with more skyscrapers with Scandinavian roots. Saint Paul has more quaint neighborhoods with well-preserved late-Victorian architecture influenced by French, Irish, and German heritage. Both cities began with a connection to to Mississippi River. Minneapolis formed thanks to water power derived from Saint Anthony Falls. Whereas Saint Paul was the last convenient boat unloading location prior to the falls. The area is renown for strong child education, and polite / recreational culture offering many fun outdoor and culinary activities for students after Supervisor 101 - New Supervisor Training. Most popular of these include shopping on Grand Avenue, exploring Minnehaha Falls Park, admiring works at the Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Other popular destinations are Como Park Zoo and Conservatory and Mill City Museum commemorating the Washburn Flour Mill.

I think MBBC instructor's 5S training was very good and effective by technique and his on-site advise. In Japan, most of purpose for 5S training is "Realization of a safe working environment". In his training, I learned as "Maximize corporate profit" and at the same time it was very impressive that how clear and effect of doing 5S is very closely linked to lean manufacturing. I felt that is effective especially for western who have different mentalities from Japanese.

Energy

I had the pleasure of working with our Master Black Belt at our energy tech firm. There, he created an internal mentorship and training program to teach lean/six sigma concepts. The training was made available to employees spread both horizontally and vertically throughout the organization. Executives, managers, assemblers and receptionists alike were soon finding and eliminating waste within their workday. This divide-and-conquer philosophy in executing the continuous improvement program was not only an incredibly efficient way to find and implement cost savings, but also created a culture of empowerment within our organization. Our MBB encouraged all of his students to use these techniques to add value to the organization, in-turn making them more valuable employees.
