About Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training

Who is Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training for?

Quality Function Deployment Training is for anybody hoping to maximize profitability resulting from the design of their service, process, or product. Sometimes, QFD is referred to as the "House of Quality" because its product planning matrices have the shape of a house. In our course, Cincinnati students learn:

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training Course Overview:

QFD training describes Quality Function Deployment - product design 'gone right' transforming customer needs into profit maximized launch plans. Far too often, engineers gather among themselves, and pump out designs with zero input from actual customers. The worst example we've seen was $20M spent on developing a pressure-based uninterruptable power supply system that had no market interest. The engineers thought it was a great idea. And technically it was pretty nifty. Unfortunately, nobody wanted to buy it, and it was a complete waste of shareholder dollars. To avoid mistakes like this, our students learn a structured approach to capturing customer needs and translating them into specific plans to produce products to meet those needs.
Customer Needs. Capturing "voice of the customer" (VOC) through direct discussion or interviews, surveys, focus groups, customer specifications, observation, warranty data, field reports, etc.

Product Planning. Constructing a matrix to translate general customer "what's" into more specific engineering "how's" being product requirements or technical characteristics to satisfy the needs.

Part Deployment. Cascading assembly-level requirements down to the component level.

Process Planning. Evaluating candidate manufacturing processes and choosing processes to make each part.

Quality Control. Defining process control plans to assure retention of capability throughout each part's production.

Cincinnati

Queen of the West

Excellent choice! Ohio River steamboats connected Cincinnati commercially to St. Louis and New Orleans. Pork and hay were exported. Completion of the Miami and Erie Canal made connections to Middletown and Toledo. Then, railroads to Sandusky Bay on Lake Eerie. Streetcar lines were installed. All allowing Cincinnati to bloom into the vibrant city it is today offering many culturally enriching experiences. After Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training, popular attractions include the zoo, Fountain square, museums, and parks. Arnold's Bar and Grill is pretty famous for having been around so long and their excellent menu. Oktoberfest is a fun time to visit.

I had extremely limited knowledge of GD&T before this course. I learned a lot in a strong course that allowed room for questions, example, and provided the space to learn the course material to the best of my ability.

Energy

I had the pleasure of working with our Master Black Belt at our energy tech firm. There, he created an internal mentorship and training program to teach lean/six sigma concepts. The training was made available to employees spread both horizontally and vertically throughout the organization. Executives, managers, assemblers and receptionists alike were soon finding and eliminating waste within their workday. This divide-and-conquer philosophy in executing the continuous improvement program was not only an incredibly efficient way to find and implement cost savings, but also created a culture of empowerment within our organization. Our MBB encouraged all of his students to use these techniques to add value to the organization, in-turn making them more valuable employees.
